Centering on key issues of marine life processes and sustainable utilization of marine biological resources, major breakthroughs should be made in the recognition and understanding of genetic analysis, reproductive development, metabolism regulation, immune defense, and other life processes. Efforts will be made to reveal the layout and driving mechanism of marine biodiversity, and make innovations in high-quality germplasm cultivation, biological base refining, green breeding, and other technique systems. The objective is to deliver major results in new theory, new technology, and new model, take the strategic position in marine life science and technology, lead and support the development of China's marine biology and biotechnology, nurture strategic and emerging industries in marine biology, and boost the development of marine economy.
