Based on China's offshore and coastal areas and seeking to reach out to regions along the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road", the project was designed to meet the major health demands of marine ecological system. The project involves comprehensive research and demonstration of multiple disciples, such as technical R&D, mechanism research, prediction and forecast, and whole chain prevention, control and restoration. The objective is to deliver series of original results with international influence in marine environment safety and guarantee, ecological system evolution and health assessment, development and utilization of coastal areas, and other fields. Great efforts will be made to launch "healthy ocean" international mega-science program, so as to provide guarantee for offshore ecological environment safety and better ecological civilization construction.
